idk how to do a read more bc i’m on an ipad rn so i’ll keep it short
i didn’t like anything about american hustle aside from the soundtrack. it was adequate.
the styling of the movie was so tacky, it was distracting. from the set design to the costume design to the make up and hair, it was a /mess/. especially the set, though. i felt like the whole scene would collapse if someone breathed a little too heavy beside the walls. the dialogue was a special kind of disaster. it was so contrived. i use that word a lot talking about this movie bc it’s the only one that fits, imo.
the acting WAS SO AWFUL (YELLS) jesus lord i’ve never seen more inconsistent performances in my life. everyone (except for c bale in a few scenes) sucked on a profound and life-changing level. everyone was also miscast horribly. idk who was in charge of that but they suck really bad at their job.
someone asked about what i thought of jlaw in the movie and she was just so insufferable (her character, not her. she just did what she was told i guess). idk what accent she was going for, it was all over the place. everything about her character was superficial and not even the kind of superficial you can justify bc it’s part of the character in a larger sense. it was superficial bc there was nothing else there. the movie was like a hollow statue. all show on the face of it but completely void of any substance. and she was so fucking annoying idk what was about. i just wanted to run her over with a very large and very powerful vehicle from her first second on screen to her last. but then again i felt like that about all the characters so
the movie on a whole was soooooooooo boring and soooooo slow omg i thought i was going to die in my seat. i kept checking my phone to see what time it was. i wasn’t captivated by anything. i felt nothing for the characters. the movie wasn’t exciting, daring, funny (i cracked half a smile when c bale’s character was doing his toupee routine at the beginning), or anything else. it was such a shit fest oh my god man.
i’m so angry i actually paid human currency to see this movie in a theater.
